Summer Theater

2017 Summer Theater Update

The School District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence Summer Theater program, a unique learning experience for D300 middle and high school students, started as a pilot program with an anonymous donation to the Performing and Fine Arts Committee in 2010.  It transitioned into a self-sustaining Community Unit School District 300 program 2011 thanks to the generous support of in-district businesses that contributed to printing and concessions costs, along with parent and staff volunteers and consultants who gave their time. Student participants gained experience and direction in music, drama, dance, costuming, set design and all aspects of stage production. The Summer Theater program typically runs for six weeks during the summer break, serving upwards of 60 to 80 students each year.  Beginning in 2017, School District 300 has adopted the program to become a part of the official summer school curriculum.
